Kia ora koutou,
Welcome back to Term 3. I hope everyone had the opportunity to enjoy a restful break with family and friends. A special welcome back to Mrs Pooley and Mrs Kruger. We are delighted to have them back as part of our Moanataiari School whānau and know they will be warmly welcomed by our students and families.
As we begin another exciting term, I would also like to reflect on the wonderful learning and experiences that wrapped up last term.
Our final week was full of opportunities for our tamariki to learn, connect and celebrate together. We enjoyed a fantastic Book Week, with classrooms filled with stories, creativity and a love of reading. The Book Character Parade was a highlight, with students proudly bringing their favourite characters to life. It was also wonderful to see our senior students spending time reading with our junior classes, demonstrating leadership, kindness and a love of learning.
Our School Disco provided a fun evening of music, laughter and friendship, while Student Learning Conferences gave our parents and caregivers the opportunity to discuss with teachers, their child's learning and celebrate their progress.
A group of our students also enjoyed a visit to the Kopuarahi School Garden, where they explored sustainability and the importance of caring for our environment. Ruben the Road Safety Bear reminded our junior students all about staying safe on and around our roads,
We also came together to celebrate Matariki, taking time to reflect, remember, celebrate and look ahead with hope. These experiences reflected many of the values that make our school such a special place - Ako as we learned together, Whakawhanaungatanga as we strengthened relationships, Manaakitanga through caring for one another, and Kaitiakitanga as we learned to care for our environment.
I would also like to thank our whānau for the positive focus on attendance last term. Term 2 saw our strongest attendance results for this time of year, which is a fantastic achievement. Every day at school gives our tamariki the opportunity to learn, build friendships and take part in the many experiences our school offers. Let's keep this momentum going throughout Term 3 by making every school day count so every child has the best opportunity to succeed.
This term has already begun with more exciting opportunities. The Dental Van is currently based here at school, providing an important health service for our students, and we encourage whānau to make the most of this opportunity.
We're also looking forward to our PTA Beats by Bingo community fundraiser. This promises to be a fantastic evening of music, fun and laughter while raising valuable funds to support opportunities for our tamariki. We hope to see many of our school whānau there. Tickets are still available.
