Kia ora koutou,

Last week was a very successful one for our kura, with some fantastic achievements from our tamariki. Our Year 7 and 8 EPro8 team placed third, and our Year 5 and 6 team came first equal in the Thames–Coromandel–Hauraki event—an outstanding result, especially in their first time competing. We wish both teams all the very best as they head to Hamilton for the regional semi-finals. We are proud of the way they showed manawaroa and tino pai rawa in their efforts.

This week, we begin the Thrive programme in our senior room, running over the next six weeks. Thrive uses adventure and reflection to help students better understand themselves and make positive life choices. It is grounded in E Tū Tāngata and the DNA-V model, supporting our taiohi (learners) to grow confidence, resilience, and a strong identity. A real strength of this programme is the ongoing support, with Ms Trenwith involved alongside the facilitators, ensuring learning continues through the year and into high school. Thank you to Mike and the Living Well Trust for working with our Room 9 students.

We are also pleased to be hosting a community meeting for the Moanataiari Residents Committee tomorrow at 5.30 pm in Room 8. This is a great opportunity to come together and discuss our local area, including maintenance and future development.

A big thank you to Carolyn and Cynthia, and Keri, our wonderful kitchen volunteers. Your care and commitment make a real difference for our tamariki each week.

Looking ahead to the rest of the week:

  • Wednesday: Mr Howes will be teaching in our school

  • Thursday: Gardening for Life with Mrs Nankivell

  • Friday: Whole school assembly

Next week, please note:

  • Tuesday 12th, and Thursday 14th May: The school van will not be running

  • Friday 15th: We will be supporting Pink Shirt Day

The van will not be running on Tuesday 26th May as well.

Thank you for your ongoing support. It is through working together that we continue to create positive opportunities for our tamariki to learn, grow, and thrive.

Ngā mihi nui,

David Brock

Principal
