Kia ora koutou,
As we move towards the end of the term, there is still plenty happening across our school. Our students continue to work hard in their classrooms, and we are looking forward to several special events over the coming week, including a visit to our junior students from Ruben the Road Safety Bear and our school disco on Friday.
Toys at School
We are asking for your support with a simple reminder: toys should stay at home.
While we understand that children enjoy bringing special items to school, toys can often create problems. They can be lost, broken, traded, or become the focus of disagreements between students. They can also distract children from learning and play activities.
Unless a teacher has specifically requested an item for a classroom activity, please leave toys at home. Thank you for helping us keep the focus on learning, friendships, and positive experiences at school.
Road Safety Around Our School
This week, our junior students will be learning important road safety messages through a visit from Ruben the Road Safety Bear. Keeping children safe around roads is something we all play a part in.
You may have noticed the new variable speed signs now operating outside our school. Please keep an eye on these signs and ensure you are travelling at the posted speed during drop-off and pick-up times.
We also ask parents and caregivers not to stop or park on the yellow lines outside the school. While it may mean children need to walk a little further, these clearways are there to keep everyone safe. Parking on yellow lines reduces visibility for children, creates congestion, and increases the risk of accidents around our school gates.
Thank you for helping us create a safer environment for all of our tamariki.
Attendance Matters
Regular attendance remains one of the most important factors in student success. Every day at school provides valuable learning opportunities and social connections, helping children maintain confidence in their learning.
If your child is unwell, please keep them home and let the office know. Otherwise, we encourage all students to attend school every day and arrive on time so they can make the most of every learning opportunity.
Thank You, Gill
We would like to extend a very special thank you to one of our volunteers, Gill, for her ongoing support of our school.
Gill has been generously preparing ready-made sandwiches for students who may have forgotten their lunch or who need a little extra something to eat during the day. This quiet act of kindness makes a real difference and helps ensure that our tamariki are settled, supported, and ready to learn.
We are incredibly fortunate to have community members like Gill who give their time and care so generously. On behalf of our students and staff, thank you, Gill, for your kindness and support.
New Zealand on the World Stage
Many of our students have been following the FIFA World Cup with great interest. It has been fantastic to see New Zealand competing on the world stage alongside some of the world's best football nations.
The All Whites opened their tournament with an impressive 2–2 draw against Iran. Representing New Zealand at a World Cup is a remarkable achievement, and their performances remind our young people that dedication, teamwork, and perseverance can take you a long way. We look forward to following their remaining matches and cheering them on from Moanataiari.
Thank you for your ongoing support of our school and our tamariki. Working together helps us provide the very best opportunities for every child.
Ngā mihi nui,
David Brock
Principal
