Kia ora koutou,
As we move through the winter term, I continue to be impressed by the positive attitude of our students and the support shown by our whānau. There is a strong sense of togetherness across our school, and it is wonderful to see our values being lived every day in classrooms, on the playground, and within our wider community.
Attendance Success
I am delighted to share that as of 12 June, 77% of our students are attending school more than 90% of the time.
This is an outstanding result and reflects the collective effort of our students, whānau, and staff. Regular attendance has a direct impact on learning, confidence, friendships, and wellbeing. Every day at school provides opportunities for growth, connection, and success.
Thank you for making attendance a priority. Your support is making a real difference, and together we are helping our tamariki build strong habits for the future.
Living Our Values
This last week, I had the privilege of working alongside some of our students in Team Green. A big thank you to Mrs Nankivell for her organisation and leadership of this important programme.
The group I worked with was led exceptionally well by Sartaj and Denny. They showed great initiative, teamwork, and perseverance throughout the day.
Our highlight was tackling a massive rose bush that had certainly seen better days! I believe it had punctured many balls. It took plenty of effort and determination, but together we managed to remove it. It was a wonderful example of Manawaroa (resilience), Kaitiakitanga (caring for our environment), and Ako (learning together).
I was proud of the way our students approached the task. They worked hard, supported one another, and demonstrated the positive attitude that makes Moanataiari School such a special place.
Thank You to Our Breakfast Team
A very special thank you to Brian, Sharon, Mike, and David, who are providing breakfast for our students on Monday mornings.
Starting the week with a nutritious breakfast helps our tamariki arrive ready to learn and sets a positive tone for the days ahead. We are incredibly grateful for the time, effort, and generosity shown by these community members.
Their contribution is a wonderful example of manaakitanga in action and highlights the strength of support that exists within our school community.
Learning Opportunities
This week our Year 7 and 8 students will attend their Technology programme at Thames High School, continuing to develop practical skills and explore new learning experiences.
We have also welcomed visitors to our school and enjoyed sharing the great things happening in our classrooms and around our kura.
Assembly
Our school assembly will be held on Friday at 2.15pm.
Whānau are warmly invited to join us as we celebrate student learning, acknowledge achievements, and recognise students who have demonstrated our school values throughout the week.
Looking Ahead
As we head towards the end of the term, we encourage all students to continue striving for excellence, showing respect, caring for others, and making the most of every learning opportunity.
Together, we are building a school where students feel safe, connected, and proud to belong.
Thank you for your continued support of our school. We value the partnership we share with our whānau and community.
Ngā mihi nui,
David Brock
