Room 3 Cylinder group have been working with Rechelle learning about fractions - halves and quarters.
They did problem-solving and the question was - Find 3 ways to cut a square cake into 4 quarters. You can only cut the cake 2 times.
First they found the clues in the problem, then Luke said you could cut the cake into 4 equal small squares, so he made the first cut. Hayley made the second cut and everyone agreed that it was cut in 4 equal parts. Next Ira said the cake could be cut diagonally, she made the first cut and Lily the second. They all agreed it was cut in 4 equal parts and different. The other way took a bit of thinking and lots of good ideas. The cake was already cut one way so Liam cut it in half so there were 4 equal parts.
The best bit was eating the cake afterwards. Yum, yum!!
